Top residency programs in 2024 (operative)
#31
Impressive CV indeed. Could be a great operative experience if you like doing battery changes, RNS, and DBS!

People seem to overlook obvious things here. If you want to do PP go to a residency that is a PP like Barrow, Carolina’s, Semmes, etc. If you want to do tradition academics and run a wet lab go to a traditional place. I would argue that for 80% or more of nsgy residents these types of programs provide a better operative experience and also give a more realistic idea how to run a busy practice.

every top program loses people. Most of those listed went to chair programs or take over a bigger practice. Naming Ivan in your list is hilarious because he graduated from UCSF. What, it's crazy for a program to lose its graduates?
Saying Lawton doesn't let his people operate is equally ignorant if you've ever been to the BNI. Fact is, once again, this forum is mostly propagating rumors that have little merit.
Some of the posters made important points. Most of the time, one gets the autonomy one deserves. Only a few don't get more than they need.

Lawton will let you start and will watch you some. But the fact that you don't know that he has a particular set up that 90% of residents cannot use due to hand dominance tells me you do not know how it works. Once he's in the chair, you're done. Not a rumor, a fact.

UCSF on the decline but has kept the malignant culture. Not a popular option this year among applicants. Most programs have modernized and treat residents better, and have APPs to reduce the amount of paperwork and scut.

Best program in USA is New Jersey University of Newark. Top doctors and greatest residents!

Best operative programs are Barrow, Mayo, Miami. Brigham and Pitt are good for being in the Northeast.

Don't pay attention to the haters
They probably didn't even get interviews from UCSF or Barrows
